We recently received a call from a homeowner with concerns that their deck had degraded from water damage to the point where it was no longer structurally sound, and they feared it would collapse. Upon inspection of the deck, we found that the waterproof membrane had failed, and the framing and soffit of the deck had rotted beyond repair. Additionally, many of the log timbers were damaged to the point that they were no longer structurally stable.

We started by removing all the material and replaced all the framing, as well as the sections of timber framing that had rotted out. During this step, we were able to match the same size and pattern of the pre-existing logs, as well as preserve a chainsaw eagle that had been carved for the home. We were able to remove and remount it to a new post.

Once the decking was complete, we sealed this layer with a waterproof membrane and laid insulation for the radiant heating, which we then encapsulated in high PSI concrete. This left a perfect surface to put down new sandstone to create the finished product and match what had originally been used.

This project turned out great and was able to transform a dangerous liability into once again becoming the focal point of the home.
